From 18 to 21 September 2024, His Majesty the King graciously appointed Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana as his representative to preside over the PSU commencement ceremony at the International Convention Center, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus, in Songkhla. Her Royal Highness bestowed degrees upon PSU graduates for the academic year 2022–2023.
Professor Emeritus Charas Suwanwela, M.D., President of the PSU Council, expressed profound gratitude for the royal grace extended to the university and presented a report on PSU's achievements for the academic year 2022–2023. This year marked the university’s 55th anniversary, reflecting PSU's unwavering commitment to serving society and the nation. PSU aspires to be a leading academic institution, fostering knowledge and innovation that propels society toward a knowledge-based community, enriched by multicultural values. The university is dedicated to producing graduates with strong academic and professional skills, integrity, discipline, intellectual curiosity, public-mindedness, and 21st-century competencies, empowering them to apply their knowledge with hands-on experience and a wide array of learning resources. In 2023, PSU offered a comprehensive range of 355 academic programs, including medical certificate programs, with 145 undergraduate and 210 graduate programs. The university’s total student enrollment reached 34,561, supported by a dedicated staff of 12,068.
In the academic year 2022, the University Council conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Medicine upon His Majesty the King. Following this, in the academic year 2023, the Council presented an Honorary Doctorate in Science (Geography) to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
