PSU Surat Thani Campus drives four main goals of sustainable development

PSU’s Surat Thani Campus implements Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on four goals and sharing knowledge with the community and society.

Vice President for Surat Thani Campus Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charoen Nakason revealed that PSU Surat Thani Campus has implemented Sustainable 17 SDGs, focusing on four specific goals, leading to the creation of courses and experts for sustainable social development, including:

  1. SDG6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), a water treatment system storing rainwater for reuse. The facility consists of a 30,000 cubic meter pond, a drip irrigation system for watering the plants on campus, and a micro sprinkler for greater water savings.
  2. SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), facilitating the use of clean energy on campus by installing a solar rooftop on the Central Academic Services building to reduce energy consumption.
  3. SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), managing a wastewater and natural water system to serve the communities surrounding the campus, and creating green areas to improve the landscape to facilitate learning.
  4. SDG12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), turning degradable waste to fertilizer.

"Prince of Songkla University’s Surat Thani Campus is ready to cover all SDGs and share knowledge to society and the community, to play an integral part in promoting sustainable development”,

Dr. Charoen said.
