On February 6, 2014, the Embassy of Japan in Bangkok and Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Hat Yai Campus, hosted the 7th Japan Education Fair in Songkhla. The fair was arranged at the Khunying Long Athakravisunthorn Learning Resource Center (Central Library), LRC Building, PSU Hat Yai Campus.
The fair was honored by Mr. Tsutomu Nakagawa, Minister, and distinguished delegates from the Embassy of Japan, and by honorable representatives from the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), Meiji University, Tokai University, Fukui University of Technology, and Tokyo Institute of Technology. Prof. Dr. Amornrat Phongdara, PSU Vice President for International Affairs, and PSU executive team warmly welcomed our distinguished guests.
During the Opening Ceremony of the fair, 70 school students performed astonishing Japanese songs and dances, and a PSU Japanese lecturer impressed the audience with a Japanese Fan Dance. After the Opening Ceremony, participants attended talks on “Life and Experiences in Studying in Japan” by former students, and on “Further Study in Japan” by JASSO, as well as presentations about the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho: MEXT), and various Japanese universities. Furthermore, several lecturers and researchers at PSU participated in a JSPS meeting at the PSU Research and Development Office and learned more on the JSPS Fellowships.
On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ram Yamsaengsung, Assistant President for International Affairs and Director of the University International College, presented four scholarships to Japanese students to study at the PSU International College, and the Japan-Thailand Association donated books to schools in southern Thailand. More than 100 students and lecturers from PSU and other educational institutions in Songkhla joined this event and gained valuable knowledge on Study in Japan.
