Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nantana Gajaseni, Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network (AUN), visited PSU on May 1, 2014, to give a special AUN presentation during Deans’ Meeting, chaired by PSU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, and attended by Vice Presidents, Deans and other key members of the PSU administration.

The presentation provided essential information regarding AUN’s complex structural composition and function, while also explaining the organization’s multiple roles in supporting higher education in ASEAN. A special highlight was a detailed explanation of AUN’s quality assurance mechanism, a standard recognized internationally. Another key point was a thorough explanation of the AUN-ASEAN Credit Transfer System (ACTS) and its long-term benefits for Thailand’s integration in ASEAN+3.

In closing, Dr. Nantana provided insight into the mobility challenges AUN is currently facing, including the language barrier, administrative and financial hurdles, and the perceptional challenges when compared to Western institutions. At the same time, strategies to overcome these challenges were also explained.

The valuable insight gained through Dr. Nantana’s informative presentation will enable PSU to participate in ASEAN in its full potential, successfully opening another venue to distribute knowledge internationally – yet another step towards the fulfillment of PSU founder’s philosophy: working towards the benefit of mankind.
