H.E. Dr. Pornchai Danvivathana, Ambassador of Thailand to Oman; Ms. Nattausuda Mettaprasert, First Secretary; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Saad bin Said Al-Muqadam, Head of History Department, Sultan Qaboos University in Oman, visited PSU on August 29, 2014.
In the morning, our distinguished guests visited the PSU College of Islamic Studies, located in Pattani Campus, and had fruitful discussions regarding the future cooperation between Prince of Songkla University and Sultan Qaboos University, especially in the area of Islamic Studies, including valuable advice on advancing the Arabic Language Centre, as well as the Islamic Banking and Finance program at PSU. The meeting with Dr. Yusof Talek, Director, and his team successfully met the expected outcome, principally in the exchange of knowledge and experiences in various collaborative activities with international institutions.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chutamas Satasook, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Asst. Prof. Dr. Pattara Aiyarak, Vice President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perapong Tekasakul, Vice President for Research System and Graduate Studies; and team cordially welcomed the honorable delegates in the afternoon of August 29 at PSU Hat Yai Campus.
During the meeting, His Excellency mentioned that the objective of their visit is to discuss the initiation of academic collaboration between PSU and Oman universities, especially with Sultan Qaboos University, which is the oldest, biggest and only public university in Oman. The collaborative activities proposed are students and faculty members exchange programs, internships, as well as joint seminars. H.E. also mentioned that an official agreement, in the form of a MOU, should be foreseen for facilitating the long-term exchange programs.
Vice President Chutamas Satasook conveyed our university’s appreciation to our honorable guests for their visit and expressed the hope that this visit will be the beginning of a longstanding educational partnership between PSU and Oman’s higher education institutions.
