PSU International Affairs Office, Hat Yai Campus, organized the second Thai Cultural Program, a three-week summer course that introduced Thailand's culture and traditions to staff and students from foreign universities, from July 5-26, 2015. The 35 participants from Myanmar, Cambodia, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam P.R. China, and Serbia enjoyed a wide variety of activities. They learned cooking Thai dishes, playing traditional Thai music, and speaking Thai language, all taught by qualified experts in their field. Participants also had an opportunity to practice traditional Thai medicine, and they learned about contemporary Thai culture by watching and discussing Thai movies.
Field trips also played a significant part in this year's Thai Cultural Camp. Participants had fun on the pristine beaches of Phuket, tried whitewater rafting in the tropical rivers of Satun, and enjoyed the scenery of the Songkhla seaside hills. The cultural highlight of the camp was an educational trip to the rural Tha Hin village project, where camp members witnessed first-hand the agricultural and fishing practices of a southern Thai community.
The Thai Cultural Program was an enjoyable and memorable experience for all participants and organizers and generated strong friendships among PSU students and participating international students, fostering a deep inter-cultural understanding and appreciation.
PSU International Affairs Office would like to invite all interested to join us for the third Thai Cultural Program, to be arranged during July 3-24, 2016. The brochure and other details can be found on https://interaffairs.psu.ac.th and https://en.psu.ac.th.
