The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) announced the results of the Outstanding Research Awards for the year 2013, presented to 19 contributions in nine academic disciplines. Two PSU researchers were praised as Outstanding Scientists:
Asst. Prof. Chinnawat Surussavadee, Director of the Andaman Environment and Natural Disaster Research Center at the Faculty of Technology and Environment, PSU Phuket Campus, received an award in the area of Engineering and Industrial Research, for his work “Developing the global satellite passive microwave precipitation retrieval algorithm”, called AMSU MIT Precipitation retrieval algorithm (AMP). AMP helps estimate precipitations all over the world.
Dr. Kobkan Pinyomark, from the Department of Languages and Thai Literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, PSU Pattani Campus, received a prize in the field of Philosophy for the work “The concept of Nirvana Anthology of Angkarn Kalayanapong”. This research aims to highlight the meaning and value of Angkarn Kalayanapong literature, which is a major force in stimulating intellectual and moral strength with roots in Thai Buddhism. The confidence in the goodness of man will create the way in which individuals may use self-development and uplift the soul.
