PSU to host the 58th Computer Program Writing Competition in PhuketPSU President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul and team attended the international ACM-ICPC World Finals 2013, held in Saint Petersburg, the Russian Federation, in June 29 - July 5, 2013.

The International Collegiate Programming Contest ACM-ICPC is the most famous university-level competition in the world. It has been held for more than thirty years, and in 2013 it’s held to complete for the 37th international championship in Saint Petersburg, the Russian Federation. ITMO, Saint Petersburg University, hosted the competition. Prince of Songkla University was invited as the host of the Asian regional competition, ACM-ICPC Asia Phuket Regional Programing 2013, and the nominee to host the international competition in 2015.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, PSU President, together with Assoc. Prof. Puwadon Bootrat, Vice President for Phuket Campus, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charun Bunyakan, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, two representatives from Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA) who has been supporting ACM-ICPC in Thailand, attended the conference and demonstrated PSU’s preparations of organizing ACM-ICPC World Finals 2015, which will be held by Prince of Songkla University’s Phuket campus.

PSU has had discussions with Dr. William Poucher, ICPC Executive Director, and the ACM-ICPC committee about organizing this upcoming activity. The ACM-ICPC committee was satisfied with PSU’s preparation, and will later travel to Phuket to help coordinate and organize the activity.

After attending the conference and inspection, PSU has been contacting sponsors from ministries, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and other organizations in Thailand. Hence, through this event PSU has a good chance to make a great impression on the 1200 participating representatives from leading universities of the world, promoting PSU’s reputation and potential in the international context.
