H.E. Chuan Leekpai, former Prime Minister, and counselor of PSU Council, was the chair of PSU open week 2013 opening ceremony held at the International Convention Center on PSU’s Hat Yai campus.

H.E. congratulated the teachers, students, and staff on their national and international awards they have earned recently, including the National Researcher Award 2012, 2012 MAB Young Scientists Awards from UNESCO’S Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB), and 1st place in Thailand’s Robot Championship 2012 by the students from the Faculty of Engineering. H.E also expressed hopes to see PSU prepare for AEC in 2015, and represent the South of Thailand as a leader in higher education in ASEAN.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, PSU President, continued by giving insight into the history and mission of PSU Open Week, and concluded by announcing the theme of this year’s event: “PSU Open Week 2013; Develop People, Advance Researches, Integrate Knowledge to the Community”.

After the opening ceremony, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phong-in Rak-ariyatham, Nation University President, and Chair of the Admission Steering Committee, lectured on “Period and procedure of admission selection in 2014 academic year”, which was the main activity in the Curriculum Exhibition.

This year’s exhibitions featured important and interesting topics, including rubber innovation, stability in food industry in the South of Thailand, natural resources in the Thai peninsula, management innovation in medical and public health, and technology application for the South of Thailand. Faculties and other sectors also organized activities, such as the curriculum exhibitions by governmental and private universities both in Thailand and neighboring countries, the agriculture fair and the science week fair.
