PSU researcher won runner-up award for commercial innovation at TechnoMart 2022

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Warakorn Limbut, researcher from the PSU Faculty of Science, received the runner-up award in the commercial innovation category from RSP Innovation Awards 2022, for the work of "KIKOWA, a highly efficient disinfectant machine" at the Thailand Technology and Innovation Fair 2022: TechnoMart 2022. The theme of the event was "Transforming Thailand to a value-creating economy, society for sustainable progress”, and the award was presented by Dr. Danuch Tantordhit, Secretary to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) on 29 September 2022 at Parc Paragon, Siam Paragon, Bangkok.

Earlier, the innovative work by Dr. Warakorn was awarded first prize in the South from the STSP Innovation Award 2022, organized by the PSU Science Park on 4 August 2022. That event provided opportunities for recipients that have shown outstanding performance potential both in commercial innovation and as an innovative businessperson.

Dr. Warakorn has successfully developed a highly efficient, cheap, and safe disinfectant machine that relies on Thai electrolysis technology, under the concept "disinfectant is more than just alcohol". Accordingly, KIKOWA can produce outstanding disinfectants that are fresh, fast-acting, and kill a wide variety of germs with higher efficiency in less time. It can also kill mold in the room, and it is excellent at killing mites on the skin. Gentle, non-irritating to the skin, the produced disinfectant is environmentally friendly, non-toxic to the skin cells and oral mucosa, is reasonably priced, and accessible to everyone. The disinfectant machine can also kill fungi on all surfaces by using water and salt through a specific technology system.

PSU received KIKOWA and used it on its five campuses. The highly efficient disinfectant machine was developed to be commercialized. In the future, production will expand to machines for livestock applications, in dentistry, and in the medical field.
