Researchers of Prince of Songkla University won gold and silver medals at the 26th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX2015) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 21-23, 2015. The following awards were given:
1. Gold medal from ITEX2015 and the special prize "Honor of Invention" from Taiwan for "Deproteinized Natural Rubber Latex and Its Cosmeceutical and Pharmaceutical Products", the work of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wiwat Pichayakorn, Faculty of Phamacy, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prapaporn Boonme, Faculty of Phamacy, Prof. Dr. Wirach Taweepreda, Faculty of Sciences, Prince of Songkla University and Prof. Dr. Garnpimo C. Ritthidej, Faculty of Pharmacy, Chulalongkorn University;
2. Gold medal from ITEX2015 and a special prize for "Smart DRC measurement system", the work of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mitchai Chongcheawchamnan, Faculty of Engineering, Prince of Songkla University;
3. Silver medal from ITEX2015 and the special prize "Honor of Invention" from Taiwan for "Preparation, Properties and Mechanism Formation of Inorganic and Organic-Inorganic Green Polymer Blend Based on Cassava Starch, Water-Soluble Polymer and Epoxidised Natural Rubber", the work of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sa-ad Riyajan, Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University.
ITEX is an international exhibition held annually by the Malaysian Invention & Design Society (MINDS), showcasing a wide variety of inventions and innovations. The event's objective is to support the development of novel inventions, promote the exchange of research results between countries, and to set the stage for discussion among inventors, researchers and investors.
This year marks the 26th occasion of this prestigious event. Government and private agencies, universities, inventors and researchers displayed over 1,000 products from 20 countries, including Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, India, Poland, Russia, Germany and Thailand. Thai products were comprised of 20 works from Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Prince of Songkla University, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Office of the Vocational Education Commission and the Thailand Research Fund.
