On 18–19 October 2024, PSU proudly hosted the 8th Knowledge Exchange Tradition event in collaboration with Khon Kaen University (KKU) and Chiang Mai University (CMU) at the Royal Phuket City Hotel in Phuket’s Mueang District. The event commenced with a report by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Udomphon Phuetpaiboon, Vice President for Human Resources and Special Affairs, followed by a warm welcome and opening remarks by Asst. Prof. Dr. Niwat Keawpradub, PSU President. Prof. Dr. Anchana Prathep, Dean of the Faculty of Science, then introduced the event's theme, "Sustainable Event." The presidents of PSU, CMU, and KKU shared their institutional policies and future strategies. The gathering brought together nearly 600 university administrators and staff from the three universities, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Dr. Niwat emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding on Knowledge Exchange Traditions (Let's Walk Together) among KKU, PSU, and CMU underscores a shared commitment to exchanging insights on policies and operational strategies aligned with each institution’s vision and mission. This collaboration promotes interdisciplinary networks and fosters an integrated approach to achieving common objectives. Hosting the 8th Knowledge Exchange Tradition event this year, PSU proudly strengthened the collective efforts of the three universities to address the needs of local communities, contribute to societal development, and support national progress while driving broader economic and social advancements.
Dr. Udomphon mentioned that the event featured a special lecture on "The Future of Thai Higher Education and Workforce Development" by Adjunct Professor Dr. Anek Laothamatas, former Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. The program also included experience sharing and success stories from faculties and departments across the three universities, with discussions on the topics "Three Powers for the Nation Library" and "The Launch of TDX for Automated Digital Book Sharing."
Additionally, the event featured collaborative knowledge exchanges among the three universities across eight key areas:
- Teaching and Learning: Skill Mapping for curriculum design aligned with student competencies
- Research: How to Hunt Global
- Academic Services: SROI (Social Return on Investment) calculation and utilization
- Management: Data-Driven University
- Student Development: Systems for managing and enhancing student well-being
- Cultural Preservation: Soft Power and the Creative Economy
- Carbon Neutral University
- The Retirees Club
On 19 October 2024, PSU hosted a ceremonial flag handover to KKU marking the transition of hosting duties for the 9th Annual Knowledge and Cultural Exchange Tradition event. This symbolic gesture signifies the continued collaboration among KKU, PSU, and Chiang Mai University (CMU), with KKU set to host the esteemed event three years from now.
