Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, Prince of Songkla University President announced that PSU is accepting donations for victims of the recent earthquake in Nepal, which caused a devastating loss of lives and property. The fourteen Nepalese students and families at PSU's Hat Yai and Pattani Campuses have not reported losses from the natural disaster.
The positive relations between Thailand and Nepal are reflected by PSU's growing number of Nepali alumni and currently enrolled students. PSU is determined to raise awareness and provide international help, in the spirit of our motto "Our Soul is for the Benefit of Mankind". PSU will hold various charity donation events and will deliver all donations through The Embassy of Nepal in Thailand.
Mr. Karun Shakya, a Nepali Masters degree student at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, said his family in Nepal was informed that even if the earthquakes and aftershocks began to ease, the subsequent heavy rains will present additional difficulties for victims who have to live in tents, including those still fearing aftershocks and are still not back in their houses. Such people need help with basic necessities such as food and medicine. Any assistance from abroad, even seemingly small, will be particularly useful for them. Mr. Karun expressed his gratitude to PSU and the people of Thailand for helping and holding fundraising events for Nepal.
