A group of students from the PSU Faculty of Architecture, Trang Campus, namely Mr. Peeranut Changthongkhruea, Ms. Piyachat Mhadsatool and Ms. Sunida Rattanaphan, joined the “Youth Innovation Competition on Lantsang-Mekong Region’s Governance and Development” (YICMG) held in Qinghai Province, P.R. China from 15-21 August 2016. This competition aims to find solutions for the problems encountered in the Lantsang-Mekong Region and to develop the Mekong River area. A total of 14 teams from ASEAN countries participated to this competition.
The PSU students shown their innovative idea to solve the water problem in this region, with a project titled “Cross Cultural of Mekong River Crisis”, which was awarded the 3rd prize. Furthermore, Ms. Sunida Rattanaphan won the 1st prize in The Best Multinational Team with the project named “Floating water wave power generation device”.
On this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nathavit Portjanatanti, Vice President for Trang Campus, also participated in the Conference of the International Expert Committee and assisted to the final competition. Mr. Treechart Laokaewnoo, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, also participated in this competition as the team’s supervisor.
The objectives of this competition are to show the methods of solving environmental problem to the new generation, and to enhance them to compete at international level. In this way, they can communicate with teams from other countries to help, solve and develop the Mekong River, the main river in ASEAN.
