The International Affairs Office of Prince of Songkla University organizes annually a seminar in order to strengthen officers’ abilities, widen their visions, and build a network among university International Affairs officers worldwide. All International Affairs staff can join this seminar, which includes visits to Thai and foreign universities. The seminar serves the policy of our university, which is to develop and strengthen the collaboration with universities from the neighboring countries.
This year, the seminar was organized on October 28 and from November 6-10, 2011. In the morning session of October 28, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boonsom Siribumrungsukha, PSU President, honorably delivered a lecture entitled “The Role of International Affairs in Supporting the Main Mission of PSU”. In the afternoon of the same day a workshop was arranged among the International Affairs officers. This workshop was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Ratanachai, Vice President for Outreach and International Affairs, and included discussions on problems that the International Affairs staff have been facing and also an exchange of ideas and experiences according to their work.
For the practical session of the seminar, 30 PSU delegates, led by PSU Vice President Phichit Rerngsangvatana and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chatchai Ranatanachai, made study visits to the Centre of Buddhist Studies (CBS) of the University of Hong Kong, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, from November 6-10, 2011. These study visits allowed all participants to learn about the internationalization strategy of the two universities, their international affairs structure and policies, and specific work with foreign students and staff. The PSU delegates greatly appreciated these visits, which were successful, enjoyable, and effective, and represented a good opportunity for the three universities’ representatives to exchange knowledge and experiences and strengthen their relationships.
