Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, President of Prince of Songkla University, led a group of 27 Thai delegates from five Thai universities, including Chiang Mai University, Kasetsart University, Khon Kaen University, Mae Fah Luang University and Prince of Songkla University, to visit universities and institutions in Germany from October 28 to November 1, 2013. The delegation consisted of Presidents, Vice Presidents, Deans and faculty members of these five universities. The purposes of the visit were to initiate and develop academic cooperation among Thai and German intuitions, and discuss a proposal on Capacity Building for Supporting Staff of Thai and German Universities.
Another important objective of the visit was to sign the Memorandum of Understanding among the five Thai universities and Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (IFF), Germany, in order to cooperate in the field of Digital Engineering.
During this trip, the Thai delegation visited nine German universities and institutions, including Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation (IFF), Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, Institute of Earth and Environmental Science of University of Potsdam, Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf, Kühne Logistics University, Asien-Afrika-Institut of Universität Hamburg. The academic areas for cooperation among Thai and German universities concern Digital Engineering (for Logistics Automation and for Mechatronics), Earth Science, Medical Education, Logistics Management, and Mechatronics.
Moreover, the Thai delegates had the chance to discover various historical and cultural places in Germany, and enjoyed the warm hospitality of the German people.
