Roundtable Discussion on Empowering Citizens to Fight Corruption

PSU hosted a roundtable discussion on the topic "Empowering Citizens to Fight Corruption: The Role of NGOs and Community", on October 19, 2015, at PSU Hat Yai Campus. This auspicious event, coordinated by the U.S. Embassy in Thailand, was attended by over 100 students, lecturers and representatives of the local NGOs, who gained valuable knowledge from Mr. Peter J. Ainsworth, the esteemed keynote speaker.

Mr. Peter Ainsworth is the Deputy Chief for the Litigation-Public Integrity Section in the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. He supervises investigations and prosecutions of public corruption offenses nationwide including election law and government conflicts offenses. He also serves as lead trial counsel in major judicial corruption prosecution in the Southern District of Mississippi.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Pipat Chooto, PSU Assistant President for Public Relations, welcomed Mr. Peter Ainsworth and distinguished delegates from the U.S. Embassy, led by Ms. Supiengpitch Phornroekngam, Director of the Information Resource Center.

The roundtable discussion allowed all participants to widen their vision and better understand the current political landscape around the world. Furthermore, the lecture was also an excellent opportunity to strengthen the friendship between the two countries.
